“Somebody wake me up !!! It’s finally here! My success story started from the hair Salon, yes! ladies hair salon! That was where my wife first heard about the WONDERS of DBT and how lives are being touched and destinies changed on this platform. I joined the ecosystem in February, 2016 and was tutored for one week by Olivia, Karo and the Godfather, Keji himself. Those were the days when Keji constantly interrupted the class to attend to Sprint prioritisation for the CI E-learning platform that we proudly have today. It sure looked like magic at the time but now it makes a whole lot of sense what he was doing then. I jumped in the mud immediately, Neks Opara gave me my first minute taking role. It was very insightful. After that, I started sneaking into meetings, watching videos and making endless notes. I knew from my background in Accounts and Management that my passion lies in the BA side of things. While sneaking into the halted Sherlock FBN project meetings and contributing, I was spotted by the trio of Afam, Ken Kuti and Olakunle. And that was when my life changed. These guys took me in, trained and modelled me to a working software myself. How can I forget days when Olakunle opened his doors for me to sleep when I had travelled from London to meet the Birmingham team to work and learn on Sherlock project. I am forever grateful.
I grew from taking minutes on projects to BA facilitator, Deputy BA of Sherlock FBN before the project was halted. From the project I knew I had a skill gap and I had to change my strategy. I began working on my certifications, Prince2 bagged, ISEB business analysis bagged, ISTQB certified software Testing bagged and with the help of my mentor Hamza Khan I obtained my Scrum Master certification. I started sneaking back on project meetings again and this time my knowledge had broadened. I was making meaningful contributions in meetings and before you know it, the great Oluwabunmi Docemo spotted me and started giving me responsibilities.
I drew up my CV with the help of my friend Ken Kuti and since then employers wouldn’t let me rest. I read virtually all projects on basecamp, took notes where necessary and voila….my project stories were complete. Of course the story of Keji populating and prioritising the product backlogs for the e-learning platform & feeding that to Anton our off-shore developer became my chief story. The integration of BMP and BOTs are other projects that always thrill recruiters.
If you have ever posted a check-in on basecamp, you have in one way or the other inspired me because I read your check ins and I have learnt from them. Special thanks to Adore, Oludare, Doye, Abbay, Charles, George, Kenneth, Theo, Christabel, Marcus Thomson, Aman, Njagga, Olukesh, Norah. Judy , Yemi and Femi. I am most grateful for your support. My interviews were fun and I could recall on one occasion I was given a whiteboard to draw the use case of my project as it seemed too good to be true. I got some Nos as well but for every No I got, I improved myself and upped my asking price-making employers pay for saying no.
I got 2 BAs and 1 QA offer in one week. God has truly been faithful.
I bless God for the inspiration to creat this platform Keji, I strongly believe if you genuinely seek to help others your own success is automatic. God bless you bro. Congratulations DBT!!! This is for all of You.”
