What an all inspiring success story:
In December 2015, I finally decided to take my husbands advice and look into CI. My baby was 4 months old and as a nursing mother, I was forced to take him along with me to the induction session with Keji, “That’s what I call motivation” Keji muttered, as he entered the board room” and from this moment, that’s all it was.
Won’t bore you with too much detail; Trained in Dec…. With no background or knowledge of project management, a lot of the things were unclear during my intensive training but I was hungry and thirsty for a change in my life so I had to soak it in as much as I could. I joined the ecosystem in January and joined CI- Sherlock volunteering to take the minutes✍🏾✍🏾(best place to start). Throughout I continued writing various reports. The opportunity then arose for me to apply as a minutes lead with CI-X-Files. This was by far no easy task but I took it within my stride as I had the opportunity to work with a fantastic team learning full cycle of a project, led by our very own product champ..Jide!!
During this time, I took on End stage report lead with HT- Epay and was soon approached by PMO Lead to join her project as a raids lead and I jumped to the opportunity…wanting to get my hands dirtier 👐🏾👐🏾. Sherlock team I thank you, especially my lead..now friend Narissa. Myself, Lilly, Narissa & Tina set up a knowledge sharing group where we would discuss, collaborate and encourage each other…thanks ladies..you are all part of this success💁🏾.
After 10 yrs with my company, I was determined that I would use my maternity leave to really study so I would not have to go back and that’s what I did…morning, day and night I lived DBT…which was often difficult to juggle with a young family but I was determined.
In April, I became PMO Lead for Dispatcher🚚🚚…met and grew with such wonderful people…Ify, Sophia, Bola, Sage, Adewale, Chris, Chilli, Caroline…you all know yourselves🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾..thank you. In April, I started applying for work..I was getting no responses and I became very disheartened. Adeshola encouraged me not to give up…thank you😊. I then decided to change my strategy and apply directly to company’s although this meant filling out very long application forms. I secured 2 interviews which didn’t go well, but little did I know God already had his plan for me.
My success story was destined to be… One particular morning, I woke up and turned my laptop on at 7.30am, saw this advert for a PMO Analyst but deadline was 10am and it required a full application form. I almost gave up thinking I didn’t have enough time, however, I decided to complete it, worst case, it’s a No!! Completed and emailed it on Tuesday, Wednesday I received a call to attend interview on Friday!! Still in shock..I knew I had to pull out all the stops, spoke at lengths to my good friends Abigail, Lilly ;PMO analyst in PO and mentor Tayo PMO CHAMP🏆. The interview was mind blowing 12 competency based questions with a panel…thought I could have done better..Tuesday I was called to return the next day for 2nd stage with the Exec🙈🙈…. I put it all in Gods hands and went…they wanted to dig deeper about my experience but I told myself…you need this and I fought for it…the unexpected was asked..I’ve messed up I cried to my family…1 week later, knowing that the good Lord will not leave me now…they called me for final stage interview with CEO😆😆😆..much more relaxed, there and then, they asked me when I could start….🙆🏽🙆🏽🙆🏽.
The Lord has been too Good 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽…just as mat leave is finishing a new chapter begins…I tell you something for nothing, this ecosystem works (Thanks Keji, Caroline, Adore 🙌🏾🙏🏽) and you need to be in it to win it…Your success stories are around the corner..I know the struggles but if I can do it, you can…don’t give up. I have so many people to thank…you have all been part of my journey and you all know who you are😉🙌🏾👌🏾.
