In February, 2014, Otillia joined Career Insights. She came on board with no prior knowledge or work experience in project management. She had been a stay at home mum for two years and had decided it was time to move her career forward. She initially joined with the intention of being a business analyst however after taking her personality test, it was suggested she focused on being a project management professional as she demonstrated the natural skills and traits needed to be one.
She completed her weekly intensive training session and got involved in the live projects. Her first lead role during her work experience with Digital Bananas Technology was a project manager for the reeviu project which was successfully deployed in February 2014.
Within 7 weeks of leading her team, she secured a Project Manager role with Queen Mary University where she was required to set up a framework and manage multiple projects. The amazing thing about Otillia was that she didn’t leave DBT (Digital Bananas Technology). She stayed on and took on more projects becoming a part of our 2,000 strong ecosystem. I guess the obvious reason was she needed the support system while settling in to her new role and needed to gain more experience. She became an amazing mentor to other candidates and took on another project within DBT. Her next project was the implementation of our cloud based Salesforce Automation & CRM system. DBT was moving from an old legacy system to a more robust cloud based CRM system. This was all new to all of us but pretty exciting as we needed to learn new skills and gain new expertise to successfully implement the project.
Six months later, DBT’s own cloud based CRM system was live and all the candidates who were involved with the project were now CRM experts within the project management, quality assurance and business analysis field. Otillia being the lead project manager was now a CRM Project Manager while still carrying out her role as a Project Manager at Queen Mary University.
The plan was to fully integrate Salesforce with our social media, search lead generation system along with our back end automated process.
In November 2014, at the DBT Awards where we celebrate hundreds of candidate who secured jobs and contributed immensely to DBT projects, Otillia received the Best Project Manager Awards.
Otillia went on to join the DBT mentoring and training team and she has already helped five candidates secure project management roles. Many of the candidates who worked on the CRM projects have also gone on to secure Salesforce Consultancy roles, Salesforce Business Analysis roles and so much more. We are now producing project management and business analysis professionals within specific fields rather than the average PM or BA who is not a specialist in a particular field or sector.
Yesterday I got a whatsapp message from Otillia informing me that she had just secured a CRM Project Manager role with a company that’s executing the new project on high speed railway in London. Check out her success story:
Hello Keji. I hope my message meets you well. Remember I told you I had two job offers on Friday. Even though the first one was with Centrica , I liked the second one better because of the location( Canary Wharf, woohoo!!!) so I negotiated on rate and they said they would get back to me today, well Keji they just did. Glory to God. I’m really happy and overjoyed. I start Monday 6th of April as a CRM Project Manager, it’s a CRM Replatform/Data migration project. I want to keep the name of the company for now but like I said to you on Friday it’s the company that’s executing the new project on high speed railway in London, My joy will be complete when I hear the good news from some of my candidates that also went for interviews.
